Maintenance dredging of port basin

Port of Skellefteå last dredged the southern harbor area in 1980. Siltation and land uplift have caused the water depths to decrease at all quays, this is most evident in the entrance channel. Near the quays, the bottom is also built up by propeller currents and spillage from land.

The port basin therefore needs to be dredged to maintain a sailing depth of 8.5 meters (which means even deeper at the entrance channel and at the quays).

At the same time, the dredged material will be used to create new areas in the North Harbour, where we later plan to build a quay with sufficient depth for ships and good storage areas in the vicinity.
