Port of Skellefteå is developing. With a growing range of services, we meet our customers' needs for intermodal transport, container traffic and industrial premises close to the port.
The municipality's investments in the port area are financed to 50% from the EU's regional development fund and create the conditions for more types of goods to be loaded and unloaded and for the number of transports to increase. The environmental benefits will also be significant with a larger and deeper port. Long transports on land, from industries and sawmills, among others, can be avoided as the goods are instead shipped in the local area. After completion of the project, an updated port that is sustainable for its surroundings and a good transport and logistics solution for the region's business community is expected.

Port of Skellefteå is being developed to accommodate more and larger transports to meet the needs of Skellefteå's growing business community.
Work on the north side to build new land is progressing as planned. The days when the project was behind schedule have been made up and now the project is on time and in some stages even slightly ahead of schedule. The main engine is a 3200 hp Atlas MAK and will deliver a thrust of at least 32 tons. She has a 425 hp bow thruster which is a lot for a boat of this size.
The overall objective of the fairway project is to increase the capacity of the Port of Skellefteå to meet the demand and needs of the business community. The project will lead to preparing the port for feeder traffic, enabling night driving for larger vessels and increasing storage areas in the vicinity of container handling. Completed at the turn of 2021/2022.
