Access to the Port

Starting in week 48, the Port of Skellefteå will implement new procedures for access to the port area. From now on, anyone who needs access to the port must have approved access.

Do you need frequent access to the port area?

In that case, you’ll use a personal access card. This applies, for example, to those who perform work at the port or make recurring deliveries.

Contact your company’s point of contact at Port of Skellefteå to provide your contact information to the port. Port of Skellefteå will then send you an invitation to apply for an access card.

Do you need access less frequently?

If you only need to work at the port on occasional occasions, you can apply for temporary access via a code.

More information about the application process will be available later.

For Companies, Contractors, and Carriers

We ask companies and businesses affected by this change to inform their employees, drivers, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers who need access to the port area. By providing this information well in advance, we can ensure a smooth transition to the new access procedures and prevent people from being denied entry due to a lack of approved access.

It is important that every person who needs access to the port has approved access. Individuals without approved access will not be able to enter the port area.

If your company is not already operating at the Port of Skellefteå but needs access to perform work in the port area, please contact us at security.portof.skelleftea@skelleftea.se.

Information Session

On September 29, we will hold an informational meeting on Teams where we will go over the changes and answer questions.

There is also the option to schedule a separate meeting for departments that need a more department-specific overview.

Are you interested in attending the informational meeting? If so, please feel free to contact us at security.portof.skelleftea@skelleftea.se.

Background to the Change

The Port of Skellefteå is expanding its ISPS (International Ship and Port Facility Security Code) area to include all areas within the port’s perimeter security. This means that, in accordance with current legislation, the port must be able to monitor who is present within the port area, both upon entry and exit.

To meet these requirements, the Port of Skellefteå is introducing a new access control system. When the system goes live in week 48, everyone who needs access to the port area must have valid authorization.

This change means that if you frequently need access to the port area, you will use a personal access card. If you need access less frequently, you will instead use temporary access via a code.

The purpose is to ensure controlled and secure management of access to the port area.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Authorized access is required for anyone who will be in the port area to work or carry out an assignment.

We need your contact information by October 16. An invitation to apply for a personal access card will be sent out once we have received your information.

Yes, you can still apply for an access card after October 16. However, we cannot guarantee that the card will be issued before the new access procedures take effect.

Individuals without an access card or other approved authorization will not be granted access to the port area. This risks disrupting operations by causing delays and, in some cases, leading to traffic jams or blockages at the port entrance.

Therefore, it is important that this information be disseminated to all affected individuals, companies, and stakeholders who require access to the port area, so that applications for access cards are submitted well in advance.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at security.portof.skelleftea@skelleftea.se or join the informational meeting on September 29 on Teams, where we’ll go over the changes and answer your questions.
